LAMMA Show Report
17/18th January 2007
This popular farm machinery show, held at The Newark Showground, Nottinghamshire is now in its 26th year and keeps on growing. With 450 exhibitors this year (70 more than 2005) the attendance was strong. Estimated to be around 40,000 people this show remains free to its visitors and keeps close to its humble beginnings being run by volunteers.
Landmec Pottinger displayed a comprehensive range with Terrasem 4000T Profiline, Novacat 306 FED alpha motion and Lion 301 all on display. We had terrific interest in Terrasem with strong enquiry about 6-8 mtr machines. Also a lot of interest in a wide range of grassland equipment with visitors coming from as far away as Scotland and Wales.
We demonstrated our ISOBUS system via a new simulation display made by the service dept at Landmec.
We also entered 2 competitions run by the show organisers with Alpha Motion and ISOBUS. We were placed as runners up in both categories receiving certificates of merit. (Both winning companies were British which I think was the bias unfortunately of the judging teams)
The weather was abysmal throughout the show and on the second day we were subjected to the strongest gale force winds on record for 20 years. Just behind us a large 20 mtr marquee was destroyed and blown over trapping and injuring 14 people. The organisers had already abandoned the show at this point (2.30pm) and were evacuating the marquee as it happened. Fortunately all Landmec Pottinger staff and machines escaped unscathed.
