High-performance stubble cultivation

Peak season for Synkro stubble cultivators and Terradisc short disc harrows

You have to be extremely careful when it comes to the water balance in fields. Due to the (in some places very) low rainfall this year, all farmers are encouraged to carry out stubble cultivation quickly after harvesting. This saves precious water which is required for the germination of weeds and dropped crop seed. Without stubble cultivation water is drawn out of the soil like a chimney, due to the capillary effect, reaching 10 to 15 litres per square metre in some cases. Maxing straw in the uppermost layer of soil promotes decomposition and it also protects the surface from drying out any further. The objective here is to cut through the entire top layer of the soil to ensure the capillary effect is stopped and with it the loss of water. The first pass should not be too deep in order to retain the precious water.

The Terradisc short disc harrow enables top performance stubble cultivation. This piece of equipment stands out through its low drag resistance and excellent mixing. The ideal working depth starts at 3 to 4 cm and should be adapted according to straw levels. Terradisc can be used even on hard soil. Thanks to the solid construction and aggressively positioned harrow discs, the Pöttinger short disc harrow goes through the soil like a knife through butter. Furthermore, the Terradisc is also suitable for seed bed preparation in spring.

TERRADISC 3000

The 2 or 3-gang Synkro stubble cultivators are the alternative to the short disc harrow.

Spread-wing or flat shares enable shallow mixing from 5 cm. The new series 1003 stubble cultivators in particular, with 27 cm spacing, give you perfect mixing of soil and straw. Side-mounted, removable wings cut exactly through the soil. Series harrow discs beyond the tine field leave behind a clean and flat surface once you have finished. The Synkro is also suitable for preparatory tillage. The side wings can be removed to work down to a depth of up to 30 cm.

Large selection of trailed rollers available:
Pöttinger recommends disc rollers or cutting packer rollers for soil cultivation to compact the soil/straw mixture to complete satisfaction. Additional rollers – Rotopack, cage drum and dual bar rollers – can be used quickly and easily on Synkro or Terradisc thanks to the universal mounting configuration.
