Girls’ Day 2008 at Pöttinger
Project „workshop instead of shoe shop“
Four young ladies aged between 10 and 15 from various schools in the area took part in "workshop instead of shoe shop" at Girls’ Day on 24 April 2008, now a regular date in the Pöttinger calendar. The young ladies were welcomed by the Head of Sales Promotion, Hubert Jungreithmair, and given an overview of the company. Markus Müller, Health and Safety Officer, provided safety instructions. The participants spent the morning in the workshop.
Andreas Maurer, Head of Apprentice Training at Pöttinger, reports on his impressions:
"This year four girls applied to gain an impression of careers with a technical background in our company. They were invited to make small workpieces requiring skills that are essential in this job. Some of them found working with a file very tiring, but they soon forgot all about that as soon as they started operating the machine tools (vernier height gauge, drilling machines, etc.). The majority found this short introduction to a technical career very interesting."
