Grass Harvesting Demo Day

A wide range of Pottinger grassland harvesting kit has been put through its paces in the Scottish borders recently. Kelso & Lothian Harvesters Ltd hosted a demonstration day showing a wide selection of grassland equipment from Pottinger which was supported by tractors & handlers from JCB & Deutz Fahr.

Several hundred local farmers & contractors attended the demonstration which was held at Harpertoun Farm, Kelso by kind permission of Messer’s R M & G E Baird. A heavy crop of first cut grass saw all the equipment put through a realistic test comparable to typical local conditions.

A glorious day’s weather meant that operations continued throughout the day until the early evening, allowing those busy during the day harvesting their own silage a chance to come along in the evening and see everything still in action. A wide range of kit from Pottinger was at work, the line up included:

As always the forage wagons draw an interested crowd and this event was no different, with particular interest in the Jumbo 6000L which made a formidable harvesting set up paired with a new JCB 7230 Fastrac. The combination of a high output forage wagon and high speed tractor saw the swaths being cleared at an amazing rate giving both JCB telehandlers at the clamp ample grass to keep working.

A successful demo day concluded with both fields cleared, many bacon rolls consumed and a wider group of local farmers and contractors knowing a little more about Pottinger grassland equipment.
