Pöttinger and loader wagons

A 50-year success story

Grassland technology has a long tradition at Pöttinger. The flagship of the extensive product range is the loader wagon. Back in 1963 Pöttinger was one of the pioneers in cutting edge development. Since then the company has been keeping loader wagon developments up-to-date for more than 50 years. Today, the Austrian agricultural machinery specialist is the worldwide market leader in this sector. To reach this stage the engineers at Pöttinger have set a number of key milestones and their many technical achievements have been acknowledged by numerous international awards.

A lasting success story

50 years Pöttinger loader wagons

Much of the company's 140-year history has been accompanied by the loader wagon. The forerunner to the self-loading wagon was without doubt the hay loader, which Pöttinger manufactured until the early 1960's. Then the self-loading wagon was invented, combining a loader and discharge system with a transport vehicle. The advantages of this loading system were immediately obvious: high operating speed, a wide range of applications and a huge saving on labour. As a result, the loader wagon immediately became a massive success in the field. A decisive phase in the development of the loader wagon stemmed from the idea of incorporating a chopping mechanism consisting of a large number of knives: a short-chop loader wagon that could be equipped with unloading beaters. Pöttinger launched this harvest wagon for the first time in 1972 – an impressive development on the international loader wagon market. The launch of the high-performance JUMBO loader wagon for high output in 1999 signalled a change in trends in silage making technology. As a cost-effective alternative to the self-propelled harvester, the loader wagon has been gaining in significance worldwide ever since and underlines Pöttinger's world market leadership in this sector.

Pöttinger loader wagons - leading technology

Pöttinger optimises performance systematically. These loader wagons are characterised by smooth operation, high productivity and versatility:

  • Pick-up – for perfect ground tracking and clean separation of forage and dirt
  • Gentle loading of the crop with a choice of loading systems (SUPERMATIC / PROFIMATIC / ROTOMATIC / PROFIMATIC+)
  • Knives in hardened tool steel with serrated edges – a perfect cut for high-yield forage is ensured, likewise with convenient knife handling using the "Easy move" knife bank pivot system.
  • Design and construction: strong frame in steel sections for heavy loads
  • Top class operating convenience thanks to unique control system
  • "autocut", the automatic knife sharpening system, enables the knives to be sharpened conveniently directly on the loader wagon.
Way ahead as the number 1 worldwide
