Depending on the type of tractor and the tyres fitted, a turning angle of up to 60° is possible thanks to the narrow design of the drawbar.
High or low drawbar attachment for a supported load of 1.5 t or 2.0 t
The drawbar can be infinitely adjusted using a turnbuckle. As an option, the drawbar is also available as a pivoting drawbar with two double-acting cylinders and is standard equipment on PRIMO 501 / 701 / 801 models. A drawbar shock absorber is available as an option.
All hoses and cables are routed tidily through the hose holder.
PRIMO models with a pivoting drawbar have a folding parking stand. PRIMO without a pivoting drawbar are equipped with a height-adjustable folding jockey wheel.
A ball hitch coupling is available as an option.
Load-sensing equipment is also available.
The frame components are constructed using high quality QSTE fine-grained steel. The frame and side pillars are secured using fine thread bolts - no welds. Closely-spaced pillars and high-strength side profiles ensure the highest strength.
The width inside the loading chamber is 2.10 m.
The driveline is designed for high outputs. PRIMO loader wagons are designed for tractors of up to 130 hp.
Power is delivered by a single wide-angle PTO shaft, with a cam clutch protecting the driveline. The loading rotor is driven by a 1 1/2 inch high strength simplex chain, 6-tine version for tractors between 70 hp and 110 hp and and 8-tine version for tractors between 70 hp and 130 hp. An automatic chain tensioner plus automatic chain lubrication system for the loading unit and pick-up is standard on the 8-tine version. This optional on the 6-tine version.
A powerful hydraulic motor provides the drive for the scraper floor, the speed of which can be easily controlled. The scraper floor switches on and off automatically controlled by the pressure exerted on the tailgate cylinders, or on discharge beaters in the case of the D models.
Beater drive system
The beater rotor drive transmission is fully protected and is routed along the right–hand side of the wagon. The drive shaft train is protected with a cam clutch coupling set at 1200 Nm. Sturdy right angle gear boxes and a heavy duty chain transmit the power to the beater rotors. Central greasing manifold.
The PÖTTINGER pick-up guarantees maximum feed rate. The PRIMO floating pick-up with five rows of tines delivers impressive performance – even at high forward speeds and in difficult harvest conditions - reliable and high intake performance.
The pick-up is controlled by a steel cam track. The sealed twin-race roller bearings on the cam rollers are designed to withstand high stress. The pick-up tines are controlled in a sweeping arc. This results in optimum protection of the sward, lower levels of soil contamination and prevents unnecessary wear to the tines.
Two jointed support arms ensure the pick-up has complete freedom of movement. A spring alleviates the pick-up weight so less pressure is exerted on the ground. To ensure perfect ground tracking and cornering, the 15 x 6.0-6 jockey wheels can be adjusted to ensure they make contact with the ground on precisely the same line as the tines.

Tandem jockey wheels are also available for hilly terrain.
An optimised wind guard with swath roller ensures perfect forage flow with every type of crop, even at high loading speed. Tempered transfer plates filter contamination out of the forage and protects the chopping unit.
Six or eight offset conveyor tines ensure a rapid loading sequence on PRIMO models.
These loader wagons operate smoothly and offer an above-average loading volume.
The crop is conveyed gently and is chopped precisely without jolting.
Machined cam track
The conveyor tines are controlled by a cam track at either end of the drive shaft. The inner and outer races of the machined cam track are hardened inductively. Reinforced cam rollers and conveyor tine bearings with over-sized wear bushes offer reliability and an extended service life. Self-aligning bearings are utilised for central shaft.
Remote greasing points make for convenient servicing.

With eight conveyor tines, an automatic chain lubrication system for the loading system and pick-up is standard.
The chopping system is optional, the upper knife bank is equipped with 16 knives, the lower knife bank is equipped with 15 knives. The double-row configuration reduces the power requirement.
A bolt-on frame with 6 knives is also available as an option. Standard at PRIMO 701 / 801.
A maximum of 6 knives are available on the PRIMO 701 and PRIMO 801 models.
Knife replacement made easy
A hydraulic knife pivot system and the unique EASY MOVE swing-out knife bank are available as an option. There is no easier way to change the knives.
The knives are produced from hardened tool steel and their pressed serrated edge ensures a precise chop.
The extra thick rear edge of the knife guarantees an extended service life.
PÖTTINGER protects the heart of the loader wagon with our patented individual knife protection system. The triggering force is adapted to the high throughput capacity. The knives are held securely in the correct position to make sure that a consistent chop length is produced.
Patented trigger mechanism
Foreign objects only move the knife briefly in the direction of crop flow.
The trigger roller is lifted out of its holder at the back of the knife.
The resistance of the knife is suddenly reduced so that the knife can allow the foreign object to pass through virtually unobstructed. The sharpness of the knife is retained.
The knife is automatically brought back into the starting position.
Any stones in the forage are not pulverised like they are in harvesters. The cattle leave them in the trough so that injuries to the digestive system are avoided.
Dry crop extension
The hydraulic folding dry crop extension is standard on PRIMO 351 / 401 / 451 models. The tailgate is also operated hydraulically as standard and can be secured in place for low-clearance building entrances. This reduces the maximum height to 2.66 m.
Metal profiles are spaced closely together to form the sides of the extension.
The side crop flow flap is standard.
Tensioned roof ropes and the rear tarpaulin contain the harvested material while loading and transporting.
Tailgate opening angle can be adjusted as required from the tractor seat.
Floodlights for loading chamber and work area available as an option.
Automatic loading optional with dry crop extension
Automatic loading system is controlled by one sensor at the lower end of the front panel and one on the crop flow flap.
The tailgate is opened, closed and locked by powerful hydraulic cylinders. No mechanical interlock is required.
The optional tailgate locking system is ideal for low clearances. Using telescopic struts the opening angle of the tailgate can be fixed so it does not exceed the height of the wagon. The tailgate then only lifts upwards to the rear. As a result you can unload the wagon inside low sheds.

The scraper floor has been lowered at the front by 150 mm to accommodate tyres with a diameter up to 620/40 R 22.5. The forage is pushed upwards as it moves to the rear. This ensures smooth, uniform unloading with a low power requirement. The system is driven by a powerful hydraulic motor and the speed is infinitely variable for perfectly matching the length of your clamp. A two-speed motor is available as an option for driving the scraper floor on PRIMO 401 models and above, which ensures rapid unloading.
High performance with 4 scraper floor chains
The scraper floor is equipped with four chains and the hardened bars are separated and offset. The load chamber floor is constructed of pressure–impregnated, durable wood. The tongue and groove boards are bolted to the frame.

The full cross-section of the wide opening enables quick unloading.
The tailgate is opened and closed hydraulically without a mechanical interlock.
An adjustable tailgate strut is available as an option for unloading in low sheds.

The large surface area of the forage compression flap in connection with the optional automatic loading system ensures the best compression of the crop and maximum use of the loading chamber. The extension bars can be adjusted by 120 mm or 210 mm to lower overall height.
Automatic unloading – just press one button
PRIMO 401 D models feature an automatic unloading system for uniform distribution. A pressure sensor in the beater rotor bearings switches the scraper floor on and off automatically during unloading. The driver no longer has to do this. The beaters are fitted with aggressive tines to unload even highly compressed crop in the shortest possible time.

As an option, the roof ropes can be replaced with metal roof profiles. The strong profiles ensure improved compression of crop material with a low density.

The automatic loading system guarantees that the wagon is filled right up to achieve maximum transport capacity. The forage is already carefully compressed in the transfer duct to make full use of the loading chamber.
Sensors mounted in front flap and upper panel section
A sensor at the lower end of the front panel measures the loading pressure for damp, heavy grass and switches the scraper floor on and off accordingly. This prevents disintegration of the forage as a result of too high pressure at the conveyor tines.
The second sensor in the forage compression flap measures the compression inside the loading chamber. The forage is compressed uniformly and the loading chamber filled to the ideal maximum capacity.
The automatic unloading system makes life easier for the driver and protects the machine. The tailgate and scraper floor are controlled in sequence. The full cross-section of the wide opening enables quick unloading.
The tailgate opening angle can be set to different positions from the tractor seat to minimise the effects of crosswinds.
All functions can be selected directly on wagons without unloading beaters. The brightness of the display screen and the illuminated keys is adjustable.

Single axle standard on PRIMO 351
Suspended tandem axle with parabolic springs, 10.5 t axle load
Nine large parabolic springs provide the necessary suspension. Excellent handling in the field, on the road and in the clamp. Spring spacing 1100 mm. The compensator arm distributes the pressure exerted on the ground evenly between the two axles. When driving over rough ground, the forces are distributed evenly to both sets of springs rather than a single axle.
Tandem axles with parabolic spring suspension (optional), 13 t axle load
Parabolic leaf springs with large spring–to–axle spacing and compensator arm prevent swaying for good stability on slopes.
