Mountainous terrain demands more from technology. In 2003, PÖTTINGER developed the NOVAALPIN front disc mower to meet the challenges of these operating conditions. Smooth running, strong and lightweight machines are the result.
NOVAAPLIN always fits!
These versatile mowers can be fitted to specialist alpine tractors and tractors up to 380 kW / 109 hp or 4.0 tonnes tare weight. There is a 3-point linkage with different lower linkage arms so the mower can be mounted as close as possible to any make of specialist alpine tractor. Also available is an A - frame mounting triangle for quick and easy linkage to a tractor.
Weight alleviation
Mounted on an alpine tractor, the weight is alleviated using the hitch control. Suspension springs are available as an option. Attached by chains to the tractor, two powerful suspension springs ensure low pressure on ground.
The mower is suspended centrally. Centre-mounted leaf springs provide a freedom of movement of +/- 4 degrees. The cutter bar is stabilised by leaf springs when raised.
From the input gearbox, the mower discs are driven by V-belts. The PTO speed can be changed between 540 and 1000 rpm by changing the V-belt pulleys
A freewheel is integrated into the input gearbox so that the PTO shaft can be used for clockwise and counter-clockwise rotation. The direction of rotation of the gearbox can be changed quite easily.
The V-belts are tensioned by adjusting the input gearbox; no additional tensioner pulley is required. The gearbox can be mounted at two different heights to ensure a level PTO shaft position.
The cutter bar can be shifted a total of 400 mm sideways across the cutting width. No forage is driven over - even with dual wheels.
Despite its low weight, PÖTTINGER places great emphasis on the strength of this mower. The rib type construction borrowed from the aerospace industry reduces overall weight dramatically. Steel plates have been replaced with precision-shaped aluminium sections optimised by computer modelling. The safety rails are made of high-quality steel.
