Soil health: how to conserve the sward with the right tyres

Soil conservation goes hand-in-hand with high performance technology

High performance technology in conjunction with the latest soil conserving tyres helps to maintain soil health and protect the sward. Soil compaction has a direct effect on your yield: deep wheel marks cause up to 10 % more diesel to be consumed, with damage due to compaction resulting in fertiliser costs up to 20 % higher.

Choosing the right tyres conserves the soil and generates pure cash
For the sustainable maintenance of soil fertility and the performance of the soil as a natural resource, it is necessary to keep vehicle weight as low as possible and offer the largest diameter tyres possible for each model. This enables the load to be distributed as evenly as possible. The larger the surface area of ground contact, the better the retention of the soil structure.

Safety and driving stability
Enjoy a smoother ride with optimised tyre dimensions and the right tyre pressure. For safety reasons the tyres should not be oversized, otherwise the efficiency of the brakes and handling while cornering may be compromised.

How the right tyres can benefit you:
You can ensure the fertility and performance of the soil as a natural resource and avoid soil compaction.
Provide maximum soil conservation by minimising harmful compaction with a large surface area of contact with the ground.
Minimise rolling resistance: 1 cm deeper wheel marks cost up to 10 % more diesel.*
Avoid reduced yield due to harmful compaction.
Avoid damage to the sward - costing up to EUR 100 / ha in lost yield.*
1 bar of tyre pressure reduces wheel marks and saves diesel, which is why the tyre table has been updated with new and valuable data.

Explanation of tyre table:
PÖTTINGER offers the perfect tyre dimension for model of loader wagon and every application. The new tyre table indicates the pressure applied to the ground on the road and in the field in relation to the maximum load per wheel for each model and the maximum permissible axle load.

wheel load [kg] : area of contact [cm²] = ground pressure [kg/cm²]

Example:
IMPRESS 155 V PRO with 620/40R22.5 tyres creates a minimum pressure of 1.6 bar on the road and a ground pressure of 1.83 kg/cm² compared to 500/50-17 with a pressure on the road of 2.1 and a ground pressure of 2.24 kg/cm².

EUROPROFI COMBILINE with an axle load of 9 tonnes and 800/40R22.5 tyres creates a pressure on the road of 2.0 bar and a ground pressure of 1.76 kg/cm² compared to 710/45R22.5" with a pressure of 2.2 bar and a ground pressure of 2.09 kg/cm².

TORRO COMBILINE with an axle load of 10 tonnes and 800/45R26.5 tyres creates a minimum pressure on the road of 1.6 bar and a ground pressure of 1.66 kg/cm² compared to 710/45R22.5" tyres with a pressure of 2.6 bar on the road and 2.2 kg/cm² in the field.

Using high performance technology in conjunction with modern tyres that conserve the soil will continue to drive competitive agriculture in the future.
