Kenny brothers are impressed with the loader wagon
EUROPROFI 4500 brings the benefits
Farming in the shadows of the Glanbia milk plant in Lisdowney Co Kilkenny, the Kenny brothers are convinced of the benefits the loader wagon bring to their farming system. Farming over 400 acres with a dairy herd of 330 high yielding cows, producing high quality silage is of the upmost importance.
Having operated the EUROPROFI 4500 for six years now, Seamus Kenny explains the important role his loader wagon plays in producing quality silage, the flexibility of cutting date and condition of the grass because with the unreliability of the Irish weather every hour is vital when the silage season begins. Seamus' target is to cut three cuts totalling 500 acres annually.
Seamus aims for a mowing height of 5 cm which allows fast re growth and limits the contamination of the swath. All the grass is tedded immediately after mowing for maximum drying and raked before following with the loader wagon.
"The EUROPROFI 4500 equipped with 560/50/22.5 and automatic loading has served us well over the past six years," explains Seamus. "Using a 150 hp tractor we can take 2 acres per load and - compared to other options available - the loader wagon system has saved us thousands of Euros in feed bills, animal health, fuel and labour."
Maintenance is given a high priority on the Kenny farm and Seamus says basic servicing and cleaning add to the life of the machine: "We have over 3000 acres completed with our EUROPROFI 4500 and it continues to deliver reliability and high output."
Seamus sums up by saying: "Producing quality grass silage is essential on our farm and the Pottinger wagon is a big part of that result." |
