Pöttinger machines are versatile multitaskers
TERRADISC for universal applications
The TERRADISC compact disc harrow is designed specifically for stubble cultivation and seedbed preparation. The original is a compact machine for shallow and intensive mixing preparation. A resourceful contractor uses the advantages of the TERRADISC for spreading manure.
The agricultural association Linda e. G. in Linda, Thüringen in eastern Germany, farms around 1,000 hectares. The farmland is divided into 77 ha grassland, approx. 300 ha maize and the remainder for the usual grain crops.
The business owns about 1,800 cattle, of which approx. 1,000 are dairy cows. The dung collected amounts to around 36,000 m3 per year. The manure is used in their own biogas plant and spread on the fields. For this job they make exclusive use of the Pöttinger TERRADISC. The disc harrow with a large clearance operates trouble-free even with additives and large quantities of material. The compact harrow processes up to 60 m3/ha without running into any problems. The advantages of the disc harrow compared to a stubble cultivator are its ease of maintenance thanks to the durability of the wear parts and low susceptibility to clogging. "We prefer the disc harrow to a stubble cultivator because it works so much faster", says farm manager Jens Strobel. "We are impressed by the way it works the manure smoothly into the earth and leaves a tidy finish", adds the farm manager, underlining the machine's range of capabilities compared to a stubble cultivator.
